Representatives of Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein and Vernon Hills shared some success stories during a recent "Ask the Mayors" virtual meeting hosted by the GLMV Chamber of Commerce recently.

The representatives discussed ongoing projects in their communities and plans in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis, according to the Daily Herald.

Green Oaks Mayor Bernard Wysocki shared that the village plans to spend an additional $1.9 million on roads this year and said property values in the Rondout special financing district are increasing.

Libertyville is seeing an increase in new business, according to Mayor Terry Weppler, with new tenants including Medline, EVBox, Intermatic and RollUp coming to Innovation Park; Gregory Infiniti on Milwaukee Avenue; the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital on Winchester Road; and La Villa Apartments downtown.

The Village of Mundelein has obtained the former U.S. Music Building (Guitar Center), according to Mayor Steve Lentz. A park will replace the building and will include a $9 million flood control project.

Vernon Hills Village Trustee Jim Schultz said the kindergarten program at the new Hawthorn School for Young Learners on Aspen Drive will be ready when school reopens. The school, which is under construction, is next to the recently built Aspen Drive Library. The library project cost $6.8 million.
