Analysis: Highland Park pays $8.65 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Highland Park Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 89.3 percent of the $4,518,343 the Highland Park Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $8.65 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Highland Park contributed $4,035,618 to the fund, which saw a $284,856 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $466,052, or 10.3 percent, in 2018. Another $16,673 came from other unspecified sources.
