Illinois State House District 57 issued the following announcement on July 17
My office has been receiving some calls from constituents that have been receiving debit cards from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, despite having never applied for unemployment benefits. It seems that there have been a recent trend of fraudulent claims being filed under peoples' names, attempting to scam some money out of the government. I cannot confirm this last detail, but it seems to be predominantly targeting retired seniors.
