Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to 271 calls in 2018 - 9.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Barrington-Countryside included 19 fires - eight structure fires, one vehicle fire and 10 other fires. The fire department also responded to six calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $310,900 in fire loss - or about $16,363 per fire.

The department also received 246 false calls, including three malicious calls and 243 other false calls.
