Long Grove FPD responds to 51 fires in 2018

Long Grove Fire Protection District responded to 305 calls in 2018 - 3.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Long Grove included 51 fires - 39 structure fires, six vehicle fires and six other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $171,225 in fire loss - or about $3,357 per fire.

The department also received 253 false calls.

Two fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Long Grove Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $5,144,263 in 2017.

The Long Grove Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 12 active employees and five retired or inactive employees, was $676,066 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $12,073 for every fire in 2017.
