Libertyville FD responds to 111 fires in 2018

Libertyville Fire District responded to 917 calls in 2018 - 13.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Libertyville included 111 fires - 73 structure fires, 20 vehicle fires and 18 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $2,523,950 in fire loss - or about $22,738 per fire.

The department also received 803 false calls, including one malicious call and 802 other false calls.

The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries.

The Libertyville Fire District had an annual budget of $2,994,879 in 2018.

The Libertyville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 41 active employees and 28 retired or inactive employees, was $999,334 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $9,993 for every fire in 2017.
