Gurnee Fire District responded to 1151 calls in 2018 - 14.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Gurnee included 137 fires - 83 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 35 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,424,819 in fire loss - or about $32,298 per fire.

The department also received 1011 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 1002 other false calls.

The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries.

The Gurnee Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 54 active employees and 22 retired or inactive employees, was $2,252,807 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $18,618 for every fire in 2017.
