GURNEE PARK DISTRICT: Spring and Summer 2021. Phase 4 Program and Facility Updates

Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on Feb 10.

2021 is truly a new beginning and with Phase 4 mitigations announced for our region on February 5, we're looking forward to FUN within our facilities, parks and programs this spring and summer. Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan provides more flexibility for fitness, parks and recreation.Mitigations during Phase 4 include increased occupancy within our facilities, eased mask requirements as well as the ability to increase enrollment for all programs.

This spring and summer, we are delighted to offer a wide variety of ways to return to our parks, programs and activities safely. Please view updates below. All updates shared are subject to change based on Illinois mitigations and guidelines. 

 Fitness 

FitNation Gurnee is open to members at 50% capacity. New members are welcome to join at this time. Safety protocols have been adjusted to align with Phase 4 mitigations. Check out what is new at FitNation here.

 Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center 

Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center is opening this summer! To align with Restore Illinois safety mitigations, Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center will open at 50% capacity (that is 750 guests at a time)! Plenty of chairs and space will be available to socially distance with your friends and family on the pool deck and in the grassy areas. All pool amenities will also open, including our concession stand, water slides, locker rooms, sand feature and volleyball courts. Additional safety protocols will be taken, including mask wearing in common areas, social distancing guidelines and new cleaning protocols.

 Summer Camp 

Summer at Gurnee Park District would not be complete without our Summer Campers. Both Viking Park and Hunt Club Park are ready to welcome back campers in June. Information regarding safety protocols, available activities and registration will be available soon.

 Park Shelter Rentals 

Outdoor shelter rentals are a great way for families and friends to gather safely. Park shelter rentals will be available from April 24 – October 10 for parties of 50 or less. Please view our rental website for pricing and additional information.

 Playgrounds and Parks 

Please continue to utilize your neighborhood parks and 18 community playgrounds. Get out and explore Gurnee too! View our parks and facilities directory to enjoy walking trails, athletic fields or nature preserves!

Spring Soccer Starts in April

Spring soccer leagues are scheduled to begin the first week of April. Athletes ages 4 to 13 will be able to participate in practices and games. All Spring Soccer Leagues will follow the Restore Illinois All Sports Policy.  Visit our website to join a team or learn more about our spring soccer leagues.

Spring Break Options (March 22 - March 26) 

Fill your child's spring break with fun! Choose between Days Off School; themed activities at Hunt Club Park Community Center, sports clinics or a NEW STEM program with our friends at Code Ninjas. All spring break options and enrollment information can be found on our website.

Hiring For Spring and Summer Staff 

Gurnee Park District will start hiring for Summer Camp staff and Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center staff soon. All positions will be listed on the career section of our website. 

Gurnee Days 

Gurnee Days planning continues to be assessed in order to align with occupancy mitigations and other safety protocols within the Restore Illinois plan.

Program Guides 

Our Camp Guide, Spring Program Guide and Summer Program Guide will be available digitally on our website soon. Be sure to join our email list to get updates.

Garden Plots Available March 1st 

Find a new hobby in quarantine? Was it gardening? Consider renting one of our garden plots at O'Plaine Park. Garden Plots will be available for purchase on our website starting March 1. View all Garden Plot information on our website.

2021 - 2022 Growing Tree Preschool 

Growing Tree Preschool is currently accepting students for the 2021 – 2022 school year.Plan ahead and get your little learner enrolled in the fall.Options are available for ages 2 ½ - 5. Choose between full Day (4 - 5 year olds) or Half Day options (2 1/2 - 5 year olds). Parents can also add childcare 2, 3 or 5 days per week.
