City of Lake Forest recently issued the following announcement.
The next phase of the Deerpath Road/Route 41 Viaduct Pump Station Project involves installing the new storm sewer on Deerpath Road under the Route 41 viaduct. This work will take place from Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, August 13, 2021.
To accommodate this work, Deerpath Road will be reduced to one lane of traffic from the Route 41 viaduct to Ahwahnee Lane. Temporary traffic signals are installed to maintain east and west bound traffic via the one lane. Please obey the reduced speed limit through the construction zone to help keep construction crews safe.
In addition, the north and south bound exit ramps from Route 41 on to Deerpath Road will be closed. The north and south bound entrance ramps from Deerpath on to Route 41 will remain open. The suggested Route 41 exit detours are Route 60 to the south and Route 176 to the north.
Access to Deerpath Road from Ahwahnee Lane will also be closed. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic on Ahwahnee Lane will be rerouted through Ahwahnee Road.
Tips While Driving Through the Work Zone
If you’re driving through the single lane construction zone and you hear sirens from an emergency vehicle, do not stop in the work zone. Continue driving through the work zone and pull over once you’re safely out of the work zone. Allow enough room for the vehicles traveling behind you to clear the zone, too. It’s counter intuitive, but if you stop in the one lane there isn’t enough room for emergency vehicles to pass. We continue to encourage drivers to take alternate routes to avoid the construction on Deerpath.
