South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem was the keynote speaker as the Lake County Republican Federation held their 59th Annual Spring Gala earlier this month.
Over 500 people were in attendance at the event held at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, Illinois. Earlier in the afternoon, a forum was held that included state Sen. Darren Bailey, former Sen. Paul Schimpf and businessmen Gary Rabine and Max Solomon, all announced Republican candidates for governor in 2022.
In Lake County, Republican Federation president Larry Falbe served as master of ceremonies and Lake County Chairman Mark Shaw also addressed the crowd, according to the Illinois Review.
Bailey, Rabine and Schimpf all posed for photos with Noem, a rising star in Republican circles, according to the Illinois Review, probably best known for her leadership and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, Noem has refrained from imposing restrictions causing businesses and other establishments to shut down.
Noem is also known as a passionate supporter of former President Trump, touting policies she insists promote freedom, liberty and opportunity.
The Illinois GOP primary is scheduled for March 15, 2022, with the general election following on Nov. 8.
