City of Highland Park Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

At 4:04 PM Chairman Gingiss called the meeting to order and asked for a roll call.

ROLL CALL

Members Present: Chairman Joel Gingiss, Commissioner Steven Adatto, Commissioner Stephen Rachman

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Nick Barnes, Fire Chief Larry Amidei

Others Present: None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A. Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners – May 14, 2021 Chairman Gingiss asked for a motion to approve the open and closed session Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the date of May 14, 2021 as presented.

Commissioner Adatto moved to approve the minutes. Commissioner Rachman seconded the motion.

On a voice vote:

Voting Yea: Chairman Gingiss, Commissioner Rachman, Commissioner Adatto Voting Nay: None

Absent: None

Chairman Gingiss declared that the motion passed.

Nick Barnes provided the Board with an update on Police Officer (Entry Level) testing data: ∙ 121 total applications

∙ 69 applicants eligible to test

∙ Testing dates scheduled for June 2nd and 3rd

CLOSED SESSION

Chairman Gingiss entertained a motion from Commissioner Rachman that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners close its meeting to the public pursuant to Section 2(c) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2(c)) for the purpose of discussing personnel matters. Commissioner Adatto seconded the motion.

On a roll call vote:

Voting Yea: Chairman Gingiss, Commissioner Adatto, Commissioner Rachman Voting Nay: None

Abstaining: None

Chairman Gingiss declared that the motion passed.

At 4:06 PM the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners recessed the public portion of the meeting to meet in closed session.

At 4:15 PM Chairman Gingiss reconvened the open session of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners and asked for a roll call.

ROLL CALL

Members Present: Chairman Joel Gingiss, Commissioner Steven Adatto, Commissioner Stephen Rachman

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Nick Barnes, Fire Chief Larry Amidei

Others Present: None

CLOSED SESSION REVIEW

The Board reviewed and discussed the post-offer screening results of Firefighter/EMT Candidate Frankie Gulo.

SCHEDULED BUSINESS

A. Determination of Fire Candidate Frankie Gulo

Chairman Gingiss entertained a motion from Commissioner Rachman that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners PASS Firefighter/EMT candidate Frankie Gulo’s post offer screenings. Commissioner Adatto seconded the motion.

On a voice vote:

Voting Yea: Chairman Gingiss, Commissioner Adatto, Commissioner Rachman Voting Nay: None

Abstaining: None

Chairman Gingiss declared that the motion passed.

OTHER BUSINESS

There was no other business.

BUSINESS FROM THE PUBLIC

There was no business from the public.

Commissioner Adatto commended Staff Liaison Nick Barnes for providing updates to the Board over the past three months.

ADJOURNMENT

Chairman Gingiss entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Adatto moved to adjourn. Commissioner Rachman seconded the motion.

Voting Yea: Chairman Gingiss, Commissioner Adatto, Commissioner Rachman Voting Nay: None

Abstaining: N/A

Chairman Gingiss declared that the motion passed.

The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners adjourned its meeting at 4:26 PM.
