Lincolnshire Increases St. Patrick’s Day DUI Enforcement

Link

(LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill) The Lincolnshire Police Department will participate in a statewide, traffic

enforcement campaign with a focus on impaired drivers from March 11 through March 18.

Lincolnshire officers will join the Illinois State Police and more than 160 local police and sheriff’s

departments for the increased enforcement effort.

Police will be on the lookout for signs of impaired driving, such as:

- Weaving, swerving and driving over lane lines

- Erratic driving

- Slow responses to traffic signals

- Near collisions with objects or vehicles

- Abrupt or wide turns

Before the green beer starts flowing, remember to designate a sober driver. Use these tips to help ensure

a happy and safe holiday:

- If you are drunk or impaired by marijuana or other drugs, call a taxi, take mass transit, use your

favorite ride-sharing service, or call a sober friend or family member to get you home safely.

- Promptly report drunk drivers to law enforcement by pulling over and dialing 911.

- Make sure everyone in your vehicle wears their seat belt. It’s not only the law but also your best

defense against an impaired driver.

The Village of Lincolnshire, 1957, is a northern suburb of Chicago and is conveniently adjacent to the TriState Tollway. Lincolnshire is home to 7,940 residents, two nationally-recognized public school districts, and over 400 businesses – a number of which are global headquarters and Fortune 500 companies.
