Deerpath Road Reopening on Mar. 27
Thanks for your patience with the Deerpath Road closure! Work is progressing on the ComEd Bridge Replacement Project and Deerpath Road is on track to reopen the evening of Sunday, March 27. The bridge deck was removed earlier this week and work continues to remove the former bridge's concrete abutments.
Work will continue early next week; the contractor will install fencing around the base of the bridge, blocking the sidewalks on the north and south side of Deerpath Road. ComEd expedited removal of the bridge so it could align with Spring Break to minimize impacts, so construction activities will slow down and resume early summer once bridge materials are fabricated and manufactured.
During construction, pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the Skokie Valley Bike Path is being rerouted to Laurel Avenue or Westleigh Road. View the Bike Path Detour Map.
The City's contractor began work this week on the Deerpath Water Main Replacement Project. Taking advantage of the Deerpath Road closure for the ComEd Bridge Project, the contractor completed two important connections across Deerpath Road at Ahwahnee Lane and Ahwahnee Road.
Additionally, crews have installed 1,700 of the total 1,900 feet of water main on the north side of Deerpath Road. Water main installation work will continue next week in the parkway area on the north side of Deerpath Road between Holland Court and the creek. Flaggers will be directing traffic between 9 am - 3 pm. While Deerpath Road is open, expect traffic delays and use another route if you can. View the latest project information on the Construction Projects Map.
