Vernon Township Republican Organization is promoting the Lake County 2022 Gubernatorial Race Straw Poll.

"Come out and vote for your Republican candidate who can win for IL Governor!" Vernon Township Republican Organization Facebook page member Linda Brougham Cardella posted.

The straw poll will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be $25 at the door at the venue, Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center. 2007 N. Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting 847-680-6680 or dawn@lcop.org.

"You will be able to meet and hear from and/or talk to all Gubernatorial, U.S. Senate, U.S. Congressional, Statewide, Judicial, and local Lake County Republican Candidates in attendance," a flyer promoting the event reads.

The event will allow attendees to cast votes for Republican gubernatorial candidates, including state Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia), Richard Irvin, Gary Rabine, Paul Schimpf, Jesse Sullivan, Max Solomon, and Emily Johnson.

Breakthrough Ideas CEO Jeanne Ives recently endorsed Bailey for governor, Prairie State Wire reported. She credits him for being the only one “who challenged the Governor’s authority to make alone all the decisions that impacted schools, churches, and businesses in Illinois." She underscored that he is “the only reason children are unmasked in school today.”

A Tulchin Research poll found one unidentified Chicago suburb where Bailey and Irvin were leading incumbent Gov. J.B. Pritzker. Crime was at the top of the concern list for respondents.

"Problem is there was no explanation about which suburb was polled," Shia Kapos wrote in Politico's Illinois Playbook. "A source familiar with the data tells Playbook that the burb wasn’t Cook County but conservative and swing-district areas where House Dems are trying to gain traction. That didn't prevent the gulp some lawmakers had."
