Candidate for State Senate in 31st District Adam Solano lambasts the SAFE-T Act.

Once elected, Solano plans to put back the people's trust.

"I would think the woman who was assaulted feels dismissed, ignored and victimized, again. Crime is not confined to skin color or nationality or religion and making the attack about race is an old trick to distract from the victim and the problem. I would repeal the SAFE T Act, gain the confidence of the men and women that have dedicated their careers and lives to protecting the public, and reverse other policies that demoralize this profession. We need to immediately reverse the trend of veteran officers leaving the force and improve recruitment of new law enforcement talent. You can’t govern when crime is running rampant because it affects so many aspects of our community: the economy, property values, insurance premiums, local business, and even where the citizens recreate."

He urged that the bill should be repealed immediately.

"This issue (crime) shows how a leader cares and if they are in control," Solano said. "Blaming others for highlighting the seriousness of the issue keeps the public in harm’s way. If the SAFE T Act were a mutual fund and you read that 98% of the fund analysts said not to invest money into it, and that 65% of them have sued the fund for fraud, yet your financial advisor devoted your life savings to it anyway, you would immediately fire that advisor and withdraw your money. Our money is personal and sacred, and violating trust in this way is a serious breach of judgment and character. Our safety is no different. We need to repeal it immediately, and on November 8th we need to fire those like my opponent, Mary Edly-Allen, who are responsible for voting for it and supporting it.”

Chicago radio personality Dan Proft recently appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight to discuss his release of an ad showing a woman being attacked by several men, and she is heard shrieking in the video. The ad blamed Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot for the out-of-control crime in Chicago; they subsequently called Proft a "racist" for making this observation. Tucker Carlson asked how this is racist, and Proft responded by saying that we do not know the races of the perpetrators because they were wearing masks. He went on to say that the Mayor and Governor fall back on name-calling to distract from their failure of leadership. Proft also said that the duo colluded with network affiliates in Chicago to stop the ad from airing. Finally, Proft warned of the disastrous effects of the SAFE-T Act and warned that crime will start pouring over into the suburbs.

Proft denounced the Chicago press corps for backing local stations who refuse to air his ad attacking Democratic leaders for the soaring crime in the city. This was after Proft paid them $430,000 to air it. The ad in question is simply a video doorbell recording of a woman being viciously attacked in front of her home in broad daylight. She can be heard violently screaming in the video. Proft responded on his show by saying, "The press corps is….trying to obfuscate these more important quality of life issues like, your personal safety," Chicago City Wire reported. Proft was attacked for not having the victim's permission. Proft responded to those critics saying that he does not need their permission. He said the news media put it in the public domain when they agreed to air it, and he laid into them for complaining about it. Proft said that the point of the ad was to connect the actual experiences of Chicagoans to the policies enacted by the city's leaders.

Lawyers on behalf of Pritzker sent a letter to Chicago area station managers regarding a "false and defamatory advertisement sponsored by People Who Play By The Rules PAC currently airing on your station." The letter says that claims made in the ad are false and defamatory to Gov. Pritzker and that they must be removed from the air under the Illinois defamation law. The letter says that Pritzker is defamed by the ad when it falsely claims that Pritzker tried to get Beverley Miles, a federal employee, fired from her job. The letter says that Miles falsely says to the camera that Pritzker "tried to get me fired from my job as a nurse." The letter says that "Ms. Miles and her attorney concede they have no evidence to support the claim." The letter ends by saying continuing to air the ad is defamation.
