On November 15th, the Wauconda City Council was visited by some queens.
"First item on the agenda is the presentation of the introduction of Wauconda area queens" Mayor Jeff Sode said.
Directors from the Lake County Scholarship Program came to the city council meeting to talk about some of the recent successes of their pageants. The program was created in 2017 to help encourage girls to create community, practice public service and speaking, and get involved in their community while working towards earning scholarships.
The LCSP serves Volvo, Lakemoor, Wauconda, Island Lake, Barrington Area, Zurich, Deer Park. The Volvo, Lakemoor, and Wauconda girls recently competed in a pageant in Lake County where the top winner won a $1500 service award. The 2022 Wauconda area queens were in attendance: Miss Wauconda Charlotte, Jr. Miss Wauconda Violet, Teen Miss Wauconda Laci, and Little Miss Wauconda Madelyn.
Laci’s title is actually Teen Miss Lake County as she was recently crowned as the queen in that category. Charlotte was the third runner up in her category for the Lake County Pageant. The girls represent Wauconda School district, Fremont School District, and Carmel Catholic high. The Lakemore/Volo queens were also in attendance as the two areas do a lot of their volunteering and outreach together.
