Safa Hamed, lecturer in mathematics, received the Peace Ambassador of the Year Award in Turkey for her book, Love Life and Press on With Peace, which promotes peace among the people of Palestine and Israel.
Goodreads, the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations, said of Hamed’s book: “Taken on an incredible journey, you are shown it is possible to love and hold peace in your heart to bring about resolution and offer up a solution.”Hamed received the prestigious award at a ceremony in Turkey in July 2022. Six months earlier, in November 2021, Hamed presented a public lecture at the College about her childhood and young adulthood in Palestine, her love of math, and her quest for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. That lecture was entitled “A Palestinian Woman’s Journey to Peace.”
