The Lake Forest College men's basketball team led by as many as 23 points in the second half of a 78-68 victory at Ripon College Tuesday night.

Game-high scoring honors went to Forester sophomore guard Elijah Bull, who finished with a season-high 21 points. He was 3-for-6 from three-point range and 8-for-9 from the foul line on the night.

Sophomore guard Alex Knight, senior wing Johnny Roeser, and senior forward Frank Siegien also reached double figures with 16, 11, and 10 points respectively. Roeser also led all players in the contest with 14 rebounds and a career-high-tying five blocked shots.

Lake Forest shot 53.1 percent from the field and limited Ripon to just 38.1 percent. The visitors also outscored the Red Hawks 21-11 at the free throw line and had a commanding 40-25 edge on the boards.

A layup by Roeser with 3:50 to play in the first half broke a 24-24 tie and gave the Foresters the lead for good. The basket also began a 9-0 run to close out the period and Lake Forest went into the locker room at halftime leading 33-24.

Run of 8-0 and 11-2 early in the second half extended the lead to 21 points. The margin eventually grew to 23 on a layup by Bull and again on a bucket by Knight with five minutes to play. Ripon then staged a comeback attempt, scoring 14 straight points in the next two-and-a-half minutes to make the score 69-60. The Red Hawks closed to within eight twice down the stretch but got no closer.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record on the year to 8-9 and they remained in a tie for third place in the standings at 5-3 in the Midwest Conference. Ripon is also 8-9 overall but just 4-4 in league play.

Lake Forest will host Knox College for Alumni Day on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
