The Gurnee Fire Department is seeking approval from the Village Board to purchase a road rescue ambulance for $362,435. The request will be considered at the board's meeting on September 25th. In order to make the purchase, the Fire Department is asking the city to waive the formal bidding requirements and utilize the HGACBuy Ambulance Contract agreement. This agreement would allow them to purchase a Road Rescue Ambulance, which includes the Stryker Power-LOAD patient lift system, from Fire Service Inc.
The Village of Gurnee has established Interlocal Contracts with the H-GAC and the Cooperative Purchasing Program. These organizations have been serving local governments in Texas and across the United States for over 40 years. By utilizing this contract, the Fire Department hopes to streamline the purchasing process and ensure they are getting the best equipment for their needs.
The Stryker Power-LOAD system is an important feature of the proposed ambulance. It assists in loading and unloading the cot from the vehicle, ensuring the safety and stability of the patient during transport. This system restricts the movement of the cot in the patient compartment under normal conditions, providing added security and comfort for both the patient and the emergency personnel.
If the Village Board approves the request, the Gurnee Fire Department will be one step closer to acquiring the much-needed road rescue ambulance. This purchase will not only enhance their capabilities in responding to emergencies but also ensure the safety and well-being of patients during transport. The Village Board's decision on September 25th will determine whether the Fire Department can proceed with this important acquisition.
