The Waukegan Planning and Zoning Commission will hear an application during its Oct. 12 meeting for a conditional use permit (CUP) for a quick lube oil change shop on Belvidere Road.
The petitioner for the automobile service station is Mark Madigan of Take 5, and the property owner is White Castle System Inc.
The proposed shop, called Take 5 Oil Change, would provide services such as oil changes, filter replacement, windshield wipers, fuel additives, and radiator flushes.
The shop is expected to have six to eight employees and would operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
The applicant has agreed to remove one access point on Belvidere Road and replace it with landscaping, while the remaining access points will be right in, right out only. The site has been vacant for the past three years, with White Castle operating there from 2005 until then.
