Lake Forest will launch a six-month pilot project where Bank Lane will be limited to one-way traffic southbound between Deerpath and Illinois Road. The decision was made by the Lake Forest City Council as part of an effort to enhance the overall experience and unique character of Bank Lane.

During a nearly year-long discussion about the district, there was a strong interest in improving Bank Lane. To begin exploring the possibilities, the City Council authorized this six-month trial as the first step in envisioning the future of the area.

The decision to convert the section of Bank Lane to one-way southbound was based on several factors. Recent traffic counts showed that the majority of traffic travels southbound on Bank Lane. Additionally, turns onto Deerpath from northbound Bank Lane were difficult due to limited sightlines. By making Bank Lane one-way southbound, it will provide an opportunity for additional parking that is easily accessible.

As part of the pilot project, diagonal parking will be added on the west side of the street. This will help increase parking availability and improve traffic flow in the area.

The City of Lake Forest is committed to gathering feedback and data during the six-month trial period. This information will be used to evaluate the impact of the one-way traffic and determine if any adjustments need to be made.

The pilot project is part of the City's Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the Central Business District. The City of Lake Forest aims to enhance the overall experience and character of Bank Lane, and this pilot project is just the beginning of the envisioning process.

Residents and visitors to Lake Forest are encouraged to provide feedback on the pilot project. The City is interested in hearing about any positive or negative impacts the one-way traffic may have on the area.

The six-month pilot project on Bank Lane is set to begin soon, and the City of Lake Forest is excited to see how this change will improve the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.
