Contractors working for the city of Lake Forest are set to commence cleaning and televising operations on the city's sanitary and storm sewer systems within the Central Business District. This operation, which is due to start this month, is aimed at maintaining the sewer system's effectiveness and capacity. The process of televising will allow for a visual inspection of the systems.

According to a news release from Lake Forest, work was slated to begin on Jan. 8 and is expected to continue for a month, weather permitting. The focus of these operations will be on commercial areas located between Vine Avenue and Woodward Road, as well as Oakwood Avenue and Western Avenue.

The same news release from Lake Forest assured that no disruption of service is anticipated as the cleaning and televising of sewers does not affect their use. A large vactor truck will clean the sewer using a high-pressure hose. Following this cleaning process, a video camera will be run through the pipe to document any structural or maintenance defects.

Lake Forest also noted that vehicles used in this operation will remain in place on each block for several hours before moving to the next location. Two-way traffic should typically be maintained around these vehicles. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work also planned.
