Community feedback has led to the development of two new and refined design concepts for a potential buildout for The Lot. The city is planning a third season of events in summer 2024.
According to a press release from Highland Park, these new design concepts were created by The Lakota Group and are now available for public review and input. Interested individuals can view the designs and complete a survey online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FT66RGM or at City Hall at 1707 St. Johns Ave., until January 19.
Highland Park officials are currently exploring the possibility of a permanent buildout on the site, as per another press release from Highland Park. The proposed park-like plaza would serve as a venue for festivals and other community events.
Highland Park residents are being asked what they think of the two design concepts proposed for The Lot.

The same press release also states that two seasons of events have already been hosted using temporary infrastructure elements at the site. These events took place in an underutilized parking lot located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Central Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.
According to yet another press release from Highland Park, both the public and the Highland Park City Council will be presented with information gathered from this latest round of community engagement during the first quarter of 2024.
