A design concept for the Bank Triangle is set to be unveiled at the forthcoming Mundelein Board of Trustees Committee of the Whole meeting. The Hezner Corp. has been tasked with presenting preliminary ideas for the property.

According to a Village of Mundelein press release, the Board of Trustees enlisted the consulting firm's services for planning and design concept for that part of downtown Mundelein known as the Bank Triangle. The release stated that by delineating several potential ways to redevelop or adaptively reuse the site, the time from concept to construction should be minimized.

The Board of Trustees will convene a public Committee of the Whole meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, in the Village Hall board room, as per another Village of Mundelein press release. All members of the community are invited to attend.

In a further Village of Mundelein press release, it was revealed that the Village intends to employ an architect to assist in its vision for the Bank Triangle and aims for near-term construction. Up to three site options will be requested for the downtown triangle, which will then be marketed to investors and developers. The ultimate goal is privately held projects that invest in Downtown TIF II and contribute to an existing economic strategy already established for surrounding areas such as Park Street and Plaza Circle.

The Downtown North Implementation Plan was ratified in 2017, according to yet another Village of Mundelein press release. This plan advocates for increased walkability, strategically positioned parking, and high-quality building profiles. With several privately held buildings currently vacant in the Downtown Triangle, this provides an opportunity for investment partners in this area.
