The Buffalo Grove Police Department recently issued 70 citations as part of its "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" traffic safety enforcement campaign. The department collaborated with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other law enforcement agencies across the state.
Commander Tara Anderson emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "We need to drive the message home: Impaired driving is dangerous behavior. It's illegal and endangers the driver, their passengers, and everyone else on the road." She added that campaigns like "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enable law enforcement to tackle this issue directly, advising those under the influence not to get behind the wheel.
According to a Buffalo Grove news release, police officers conducted 75 traffic stops during this traffic safety campaign. The operations resulted in three arrests and 70 citations.
The issued citations included one for driving under influence (DUI), as reported by a Buffalo Grove news release. The remaining two arrests were made for suspended license/no valid license offenses.
Further details from the Buffalo Grove news release revealed that two distracted driver citations were issued along with two child seat citations. The traffic stops also led to 25 seat belt violations, 20 speeding citations, and an additional 18 citations for various offenses.
