The podcast host said that Chicago’s city council recently passed an ordinance banning buses bringing unticketed passengers into the city, at risk of fines, bus impoundment, and driver imprisonment.
“The Chicago city council passed, a few weeks ago, an ordinance,” Joe Weiss fellow host Jansons on the Lake Forest podcast. “Saying no more buses, if they come into the city with unticketed passengers.”
“They’re picking Metra stations so that they just get on the metra chain and buy them metra tickets,” Weiss said. “Metra’s ridership has been down since the pandemic, so I think this is a boon for Metra, notice Metra’s not stopping this.”
