Buffalo Grove Police Officer Michael Carlson has been awarded the Fricke Cooper Achievement Award by the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety.

The Fricke Cooper Award, as described in a Village of Buffalo Grove Facebook post, is an acknowledgment of individual and organizational dedication to ongoing professional development. It specifically commends an individual for providing exceptional traffic crash investigation and reconstruction services to their community. The accolade is earned through extensive study, coursework, homework, and examinations.

According to its Facebook page, the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety provides certificate programs for law enforcement and public safety professionals. These courses and programs are open to law enforcement officers, crash investigators, and other public safety professionals.

The Northwestern University Center for Public Safety website states that areas of study include Traffic Crash Investigation & Reconstruction, law enforcement management and leadership, as well as police motorcycle training.
