Fire engulfs the second story of a home on Brandywyn Lane Monday evening. | Village of Buffalo Grove
A vacant house on Brandywyn Drive suffered significant damage due to a fire late Monday evening. The incident is currently under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. Firefighters initially received reports of a fire in the Silver Linden Lane area.
According to a Village of Buffalo Grove press release, as firefighters made their way to the scene, they observed flames visible from a distance and were redirected to the correct location of the fire at 2112 Brandywyn Lane. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the second floor of the two-story, vacant house was fully engulfed in flames.
The press release also stated that the heat from the fire was affecting neighboring houses on both sides. Both homes sustained damage from the fire, including melted vinyl siding. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation for a fire at a home on Brandywyn Lane that less than two years ago was made uninhabitable by another fire.

The press release further indicated that crews began extinguishing the fire and took measures to protect neighboring homes. After approximately 30 minutes, with assistance from neighboring fire departments, they successfully extinguished the blaze.
According to another statement from the Village of Buffalo Grove, there was a partial collapse of the house's second floor. The property had been undergoing repairs since an August 2022 fire rendered it uninhabitable. An investigation into that previous incident found that it originated from candles burning in the home. The cause of Monday's fire remains under investigation.
