City of Highland Park Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Feb. 9.

CALL TO ORDER

At 9:26 AM Chair Katz called the meeting to order and asked for a roll call.

ROLL CALL

Members Present: Chair Kiki Katz

Commissioner Evan Witkowski

Commissioner Kris Byrnes

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Fire Chief Joe Schrage, Board Secretary Nick Barnes Others Present: None

CLOSED SESSION

Chair Katz requested a motion that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners close its meeting to the public pursuant to Section 2(c) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2(c)) for the purpose of discussing personnel matters.

Commissioner Witkowski moved to move to closed session, Commissioner Byrnes seconded.

On a voice vote:

Voting Yea: Chair Kiki Katz, Commissioner Evan Witkowski, Commissioner Kris Byrnes Voting

Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

Chair Katz declared that the motion passed.

Special Meeting – Board of Fire and Police Commissioners

At 9:27 AM the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners recessed the public portion of the meeting to meet in closed session.

Chair Katz reconvened the open session of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners at 2:02 PM and asked for a roll call.

Commissioner Evan Witkowski

Commissioner Kris Byrnes

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Fire Chief Joe Schrage, Board Secretary Nick Barnes

Others Present: None

The Board interviewed candidates for the position of Firefighter / EMT / EMT

II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Regular Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners – January 19, 2024

Chair Katz requested a motion to approve the open and closed session Minutes of a Regular Meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the date of January 19, 2024.

Commissioner Witkowski moved to approve the minutes. Commissioner Byrnes seconded.

On a voice vote:

Voting Yea: Chair Kiki Katz, Commissioner Evan Witkowski, Commissioner Kris Byrnes

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

Chair Katz declared that the motion passed.

Special Meeting – Board of Fire and Police Commissioners

Chair Katz recessed the meeting at 2:02 PM to be reconvened on February 10, 2024. Chair Katz reconvened the meeting at 9:00 AM on February 10, 2024.

The Board interviewed candidates for the position of Firefighter / EMT / EMT

II. SCHEDULED BUSINESS

A. Establishment of Initial Eligibility List (Firefighter / EMT / EMT II)

The Board assigned scores for the Oral Interview and PASS/FAIL determinations for the Polygraph and initial background check, by consensus, via written determination for two Firefighter / EMT / EMT II candidates.

OTHER BUSINESS

There was no other business.

ADJOURNMENT

Chair Katz entertained a motion by Commissioner Witkowski to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Byrnes seconded.

Chair Katz declared that the motion passed.

The Board of Police and Fire Commissioners adjourned its meeting at 1:50 PM.
