The Lake County State's Attorney's Office is set to benefit from a $300,000 federal grant, which will offset funding for positions in a domestic violence intensive treatment and diversion program for victims and offenders.

According to the agenda of the Lake County Board meeting held on March 12, the board authorized acceptance of a Justice Assistance Grant Violent Crime Reduction in Illinois Communities (JAG VCRIC). This grant was awarded by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA).

In an effort to address Lake County's high incidence of intimate partner violence, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office and the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic have created the Domestic Violence Prevention Program. This initiative was also detailed in the March 12 meeting agenda.

The same source further states that this program will provide services such as an incentivized intensive treatment program for offenders. It will also offer ongoing victim support like legal housing and immigration services. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office is expected to act as the lead agency.
