The Lake County Board has approved a $12.6 million joint contract with Joseph J. Henderson & Son of Gurnee for improvement projects at the Public Works Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).
According to the agenda for the Lake County Board's April 9 meeting, improvements will be carried out at three WRFs owned and operated by Lake County Public Works. These facilities provide services to residents in numerous villages and unincorporated areas of Lake County.
As per the same source, upgrades will be implemented at each facility. A disc filter, high-efficiency blower, and UV installation will be executed at Des Plaines River. Additionally, clarifier cover installations will be undertaken at each facility.
Five contractors submitted bids for these projects, with costs varying from $12.7 million to $16.2 million, as stated in the agenda for the Lake County Board's April 9 meeting. Combined proposals from three contractors ranged between $12.6 million and $15.2 million.
The county plans to allocate $12.2 million from American Rescue Plan Act funds towards this contract, according to the aforementioned agenda. The remaining costs will be covered by additional funds from Public Works' reserves.
