The Lake Forest City Council is deliberating on the approval of over $1 million in supplemental appropriations to cover costs for three funds that are projected to exceed their budgeted expenses.
According to the Lake Forest City Council agenda for April 15, the Lake Forest Hospital Project Fund is anticipated to require an additional $650,000 for fiscal year 2024. The completion of the Lake Forest Hospital parking garage project negates the need for permit fees. A permit fee amounting to $715,225 was originally intended to be transferred to the Capital Improvements Fund ($356,700) and the Water Operating Fund ($358,525).
The same source indicates that the Forest Park Boardwalk construction project, approved by the city council on Dec. 4, 2023, was not included in the original FY2024 budget. Part of this project's cost comes from the Park and Public Land Fund, necessitating a supplemental appropriation.
In addition, as per the Lake Forest City Council agenda for April 15, purchasing three dual-band portable radios and updating 26 existing fire department radios led to expenditures totaling $124,617. This amount exceeded its budget allocation of $50,000.
