Lake Forest has budgeted slightly over $1 million for the resurfacing of portions of five city streets and for necessary repairs as part of its annual maintenance program. The proposal was put forward in conjunction with Lake Bluff.
The combined project bid was won by Schroeder Asphalt Services, based in Marengo, Illinois, with a bid amounting to $1.78 million, according to the agenda of the Lake Forest City Council meeting held on April 15.
According to the same source, the streets scheduled for resurfacing include S Mar Lane Drive, from W Everett Road to S Franz Drive; S. Franz Drive from Waukegan Road to S Mar Lane Drive; West Westminster from Green Bay Road to West End; E McCormick Drive from Sheridan Road to E Westleigh Road; and McKinley Road from Wisconsin to Scott Street.
The Lake Forest City Council also indicated that both Lake Forest and Lake Bluff will arrange separate meetings with the contractor to establish tentative schedules for each community.
The funding for this contract is expected to come from the Motor Fuel Tax Fund, amounting to $1 million. It is specified that the contractor will only receive payment corresponding to the quantity of work performed.
