State Senator Dan McConchie | Illinois General Assembly
Illinois State Senator Dan McConchie from the 26th District recently provided an update on several bills that have successfully passed the Senate and are now headed to the House. Senator McConchie highlighted four bills that have made significant strides. Regarding Senate Bill 275, he stated, "I hope you are enjoying the warmth of spring!" The bill aims to give individuals the option to choose between 4-year and 8-year driver's license renewal periods, offering convenience and savings.
Another bill, Senate Bill 3323, which focuses on easing challenges for people with disabilities when charging electric vehicles, also garnered attention. Senator McConchie emphasized the importance of ensuring accessibility in EV infrastructure for all individuals.
Senate Bill 2740 addresses the need for equitable access to essential facilities and accessible parking for disabled individuals within condominium communities. The Senator stressed the significance of removing barriers for people with disabilities in their daily lives.
Additionally, Senate Bill 2751 aims to waive permit fees for disabled Veterans making disability modifications to their homes. Senator McConchie highlighted the importance of supporting Veterans and alleviating financial burdens during home renovations.
In an op-ed published in the Chicago Tribune, Senator McConchie raised concerns about the decision-making process of certain appointments, stating, "The members of the Senate, as well as the general public, deserve to know why Pritzker’s hand-picked ICC is making questionable decisions that increase public risk rather than prioritizing safety and reliability."
Senator McConchie encouraged feedback from the public, emphasizing the value of community engagement in the legislative process. He concluded by inviting individuals to share their thoughts and concerns on the proposed legislation and other matters of interest.
