A Lake County Gun Violence Awareness Month Community Carnival will be held Saturday, June 29, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Cristo Rey parking lot. The Antmound Foundation and the Lake County Gun Violence Prevention Initiative are hosting the fair.
According to a press release from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, the carnival provides an opportunity for the community to honor those who have been taken by gun violence, support survivors, and find joy in the community. The free carnival will be at 3106 Belvedere Road, Waukegan.
Carnival games, spoken word performances, a DJ, lunch and snacks, a resource fair, and more are planned for the event.
The Antmound Foundation has a mission to support positive change in its communities by addressing four pillars: education, economic development, entrepreneurship, and legal justice. According to its website, the foundation focuses on the most vulnerable in the community: youth and those who have been or may become engaged in the criminal justice system.
