Buffalo Grove police make arrest after fire at Woodman's grocery store

A Virginia woman was arrested and charged with arson following a fire in the men's bathroom at Woodman's grocery store in Buffalo Grove on July 10. Buffalo Grove Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:37 a.m.

According to a Buffalo Grove Police Department press release, officers were sent to the store at 1550 East Deerfield Parkway after receiving a report of a fire that had been found and extinguished in the men's bathroom. The officers observed damage to the bathroom stall and surrounding area. They reviewed store security footage that showed the suspect entering the bathroom just prior to the fire being reported.

Kiara Davis, 29, of Norfolk, Virginia, was located at approximately 1 a.m. on July 11 and subsequently arrested, according to the police department's press release. She was charged with one count of arson, a Class X felony, which was approved by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. Davis was scheduled for her first court appearance on July 11.

"Individuals charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty," stated the Buffalo Grove Police Department press release.
