New Fire Chief Larry Kane | Village of Buffalo Grove
Deputy Fire Chief Larry Kane was installed as the Buffalo Grove Fire Department's new fire chief and emergency management director during the Village board meeting on Monday, July 15. Kane replaces Chief Mike Baker as he retires.
"I’m honored to serve as Buffalo Grove’s next fire chief, carrying forward a legacy of professionalism and commitment to community service," Deputy Chief Larry Kane said, according to a Village of Buffalo Grove news release.
According to the same news release, other leadership promotions were made with oath of office and badge presentation ceremonies during the meeting. Battalion Chief Shawn Collins was appointed to deputy fire chief, Lt. Daniel Pasquarella was promoted to battalion chief, and Firefighter/Paramedic Daniel Downey's promotion to lieutenant were part of the leadership changes. Pasquarella and Downey's badge presentation ceremonies will take place at the Aug. 5 village board meeting.
Kane will lead with the rebuild of Fire Station 25 and other facility modernization improvements, according to a Village of Buffalo Grove news release. Kane said Collins has a track record of success in his previous roles as hazardous materials team leader and training officer.
A reception to celebrate the leadership retirements and promotions was held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, in the lobby of Village Hall at 50 Raupp Boulevard, according to a Village of Buffalo Grove news release. The village board meeting followed at 7:30 p.m. The village bid farewell to Fire Chief Mike Baker, who retires after 45 years of fire service, including the past 11 years with Buffalo Grove. Retiring Administrative Services Director Brett Robinson was also honored for his 38 years of service with the village.
