The Village of Hainesville will hold a Reuse & Recycle-o-RAMA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the village hall on July 20. Collected items will be reused, recycled, and donated.
According to a Village of Hainesville news release, the free event is for household items only. Participants should have items in the trunk of their vehicle, pop it open at village hall, and the items will be collected. The village collects clothing, textiles, and shoes (shoes inside) year-round. A comprehensive list of what is accepted and not accepted for clothing and textiles can be found at www.swalco.org.
Hainesville Village Hall is located at 100 N. Hainesville Road. According to the news release, a maximum of four banker boxes of confidential documents per vehicle can be brought for shredding, but no businesses may participate. All types of footwear will be accepted; pairs should be tied together with laces or secured with rubber bands or zip-ties if they lack laces. Ice skates or roller blades will not be accepted.
Stuffed/plush animals and dolls will be accepted, but no other toys, according to the news release. New, gently used or worn clothing will be accepted if cleaned and bagged. Bed and table linens, towels, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and keys can also be donated. Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors will be accepted as well as automotive batteries. New and gently used pet leashes, collars, and small pet carriers are welcome too.
Books for reuse will be accepted provided they are not wet, damaged, moldy or odorous; phone books magazines, newspapers, Time-Life books, coloring books or encyclopedias are not acceptable donations. A maximum of 25 new or gently used eclipse glasses can be donated per vehicle; these will go to Astronomers Without Borders. Musical instruments will also be donated to children's musical programs but drums or keyboards are excluded.
The event offers residents an opportunity to visit with state Sen. Mary Edly-Allen and state Rep. Laura Faver Dias.
