According to the Illinois Secretary of State (SOS) website, individuals who do not have a U.S. passport, do not visit military bases, or do not use airplanes for domestic travel do not need a Real ID. Those who lack a passport or passport card but fly, visit military bases, or secure federal facilities must obtain a Real ID. All driver services facilities are issuing Real ID cards.

Starting May 7, 2025, the Transportation Safety Administration will require either a Real ID or a valid passport for air travel. The new deadline for the Real ID program was announced on May 1. The program itself was created in 2005 but has faced delays due to backlogs at DMV facilities, according to MyStateline.com. The Real ID Act was passed in response to the September 11 attacks.

McConchie has served the people of the 26th District since 2016. He is an energy consultant with Verde Solutions and has a background that includes service in the Army National Guard and two decades in public affairs for national advocacy groups. Additionally, he spent two years as an adjunct professor at Trinity International University teaching graduate-level bioethics and public policy courses. He resides in Hawthorn Woods with his wife.
