The Gurnee Days Committee has selected longtime Gurnee resident Kathy Blair as the 2024 Gurnee Days Honoree. A former teacher, Blair opened a Nothing Bundt Cakes storefront with her late husband.

Blair's commitment to the community will be honored at the Gurnee Days annual testimonial reception on Friday, Aug. 9, at Warren Township Center, according to a Village of Gurnee news release.

According to the Village of Gurnee news release, Blair has been a resident since 1988 when she and her late husband, Troy, bought their first home. She raised her children, Kevin and Cassidy, volunteered and attended Village Church of Gurnee. She also assisted in Woodland School District classrooms while completing her education degree and taught for many years at Woodland Middle School.

Blair opened Nothing Bundt Cakes with her late husband in 2018. Her interest in serving the community led her to partner with more than 40 nonprofit organizations and get involved with the Gurnee Women's Business Association, Gurnee Exchange, and other local groups.
