Lake Forest, IL – In response to the August 21, 2024, Bureau of Labor Statistics’ preliminary annual benchmark review of employment data, Jim Carris, a candidate for Congress, released the following statement:

“The recent revision to the federal jobs report is a stark reminder of the disconnect between political rhetoric and the economic reality faced by local families.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that the economy created 818,000 fewer jobs from April 2023 through March 2024 – a full 30% less than previously claimed. The hardest-hit sector was professional and business services, accounting for over 40 percent of the lost jobs.

For the people of Illinois’ 10th District, this isn’t just a statistic; it’s a reminder that Washington is out of touch with the challenges we face every day.

I’m running for Congress because I want my family—and yours—to live in a country where they can pursue their dreams and reach their highest potential. But the current leadership is failing us, allowing opportunities to slip away and making it harder for hardworking families to thrive.

The American people deserve leaders in Washington who understand the realities of our economy, not career politicians who prioritize partisan agendas. It’s time to bring proven business leaders into government to deliver genuine economic recovery and growth, not just headlines.”
