Buffalo Grove residents interested in running for a Village Board Trustee seat can now pick up a petition and information packet from the Village Hall front desk at 50 Raupp Boulevard. The deadline to file a petition is November 18.

According to a village news release, the election cycle includes three four-year trustee seats and one two-year trustee seat for election on the Buffalo Grove Village Board. The Consolidated Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Residents seeking a trustee position can file petitions from 8 a.m. on November 12 to 5 p.m. on November 18 in the Village Clerk's Office, the news release said. Candidates must collect between 5% and 8% of the signatures from ballots cast in the 2023 municipal election. During that election, 4,297 ballots were cast. The minimum requirement for signatures is 214, with the maximum being 344.

The village news release also mentioned that if more than one person is in line at 8 a.m. on November 12 to file a petition, a lottery will be held after the close of filing to determine candidate placement on the ballot. If more than one person files between 4 and 5 p.m. on November 18, another lottery will determine the final place on the ballot.

Direct municipal election questions to the State Board of Elections at 312-814-6440, as said in the village news release. County clerks administer municipal elections. Potential candidates can find additional information in the Candidate's Guide available from the State Board of Elections or through the village's election information webpage.
