Jim Carris, a business leader and first-time candidate for Congress, has expressed concerns over his opponent Brad Schneider's refusal to engage in a debate. In an op-ed published on September 18, 2024, Carris emphasized the importance of civic discourse and accountability.

Carris stated, "As a business leader and first-time candidate, running for Congress is a responsibility I take seriously because it’s about securing a better future for hard-working Illinois families." He criticized Schneider's decade-long tenure in office, noting that he "hasn’t passed a single bill into law" and accused him of prioritizing partisanship over progress by consistently voting with the far left of the Democratic Party.

The 10th Congressional District, according to Carris, has historically valued thoughtful debate among candidates. "Families in this community care deeply about the issues," he said. "They deserve a representative who is willing to listen, debate, and make their case to the people."

Carris questioned why Schneider refuses to participate in debates. "Why can’t your elected representative show up to do his job—represent you, listen to you, and inform you?" he asked.

Highlighting his own commitment to transparency and accountability, Carris remarked, "I’m not afraid to stand before the voters of this District and answer the tough questions." He pointed out pressing issues such as rising costs, an unstable economy, and public safety challenges that require real solutions rather than silence.

Carris concluded by reiterating his call for a debate: "Will my opponent finally agree to debate the issues that matter most to our District or will he continue to hide from his record and avoid the conversation?"

Sincerely,

Jim Carris

Candidate for Congress, IL-10
