Lake County Sheriff's Traffic Crash investigators are examining a fatal incident that occurred in unincorporated Antioch on October 28. A 37-year-old man from Wauconda succumbed to his injuries following the single-vehicle crash.

According to a Lake County news release, deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:10 p.m. to the area of West Grass Lake Road and Broadway Avenue for a reported single-vehicle crash involving injuries.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a heavily damaged GMC Sierra. Bystanders had already extracted the driver from the vehicle. He was critically injured and transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he later died.

The news release indicated that preliminary investigations by Traffic Crash investigators revealed the GMC was traveling westbound on West Grass Lake Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, struck a utility pole, and rolled over. An autopsy has been scheduled by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The accident is still under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Team, as said in the news release.
