In 1925, Mundelein received its first fire truck, a 1925 Stoughton, as a gift from Cardinal Mundelein. This year marks the centennial of that significant event.
The Village of Mundelein still possesses this original fire truck. Remarkably, the 100-year-old Stoughton remains operational, a feat not many communities in Illinois can claim.
Throughout this year, celebrations will be held in Mundelein to commemorate the 100th anniversary of "Old Number One."
