42nd Annual New Trier Jazz Festival | New Trier Township High School District 203

The New Trier Jazz Festival is set to return for its 42nd year, featuring a unique celebration of Chicago's musical heritage. The event will be highlighted by the premiere of "The Chicago Neighborhood Suite," performed by an all-star jazz orchestra known as The Chicago Neighborhood Project. This ensemble has been specially assembled for the festival and will perform on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 7:00 pm in New Trier High School’s Gaffney Auditorium.

The evening concert will commence with a performance by New Trier’s Jazz Ensemble 1, joined by several notable alumni. Tickets for this popular event are priced at $40 and can be purchased through the festival's website.

Over the years, the New Trier Jazz Festival has hosted some of the world's most esteemed jazz ensembles, including the Count Basie Orchestra and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. This year's festival continues that tradition by spotlighting Chicago's vibrant jazz community. Composer Joe Clark has arranged nine pieces into "The Chicago Neighborhood Suite," which will be performed by 17 top musicians from Chicago.

In addition to evening performances, the festival will welcome over 40 high school and middle school jazz ensembles to participate in non-competitive events throughout the day. Students will have opportunities to perform for jazz clinicians, attend workshops and master classes, and enjoy concerts. Daytime events are free and open to the public.

For more information about the event or ticket inquiries, contact Nic Meyer, Director of Jazz Ensembles, or Sarah Kropski, Project Specialist.
