Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating a shooting death that occurred on Sunday afternoon, February 9, in Beach Park.
According to a Lake County Sheriff's Office news release, deputies responded to a call at approximately 12:10 p.m. on February 9 to the 39300 block of Melbourne Court in Beach Park for a report of shots fired. A 911 caller reported hearing several shots and seeing two Black men, aged 20-25, running from the scene.
The news release states that deputies who arrived on the scene found several spent shell casings on the roadway and shattered glass from a car. Shortly after, they learned that a vehicle had been driven to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, where a gunshot victim was dropped off.
The gunshot victim, identified as a 24-year-old Waukegan man, was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the medical center.
