Granite City Elks Lodge #1063 recognized Granite City High School seniors Faith Teets and Ryan Rash as Students of the Month for January.
The Elks Student of the Month Program is designed to recognize outstanding young men and women for achievements in school and community life, including fine arts, hobbies, athletics, church involvement, club and community service, industry, and farming.
Nominees are judged on multiple achievements including leadership skills, good moral character, community involvement, extracurricular activities, honors and awards, and scholastic ability.
Each student receives a $100 U.S. savings bond and an Elks certificate of achievement.
Faith Teets was recognized for her involvement as a four-year member of the marching band, pep band, percussion ensemble, and wind ensemble. She serves as Science Club Vice President and Drumline section leader. Teets is also a member of the National Honor Society, Photography Club, and Science Club. Her volunteer work includes Food Donation efforts and the NHS Blood Drive. She has been honored by American Legion Girl State twice and is a two-time ILMEA participant. Additionally, she was named Rotary Student of the Month. Faith Teets is the daughter of Joe Weinberger and Jessica Teets.
Ryan Rash was recognized for his participation as a four-year member of the boys' soccer team. He is also involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hockey Club, Spirit Club, Student Council Finance Committee member\, Varsity \Club \member \and \Secondary \Honors ecipient\. \Rash''s \volunteer \activities \include \Thanksgiving \and \Christmas \basket \delivery hrough \Student \Council\. \Ryan \Rash \is he \son \of \Richard \and \Dinna \Rash\.
