The band at Blue & Gold News has begun working on new songs and solos, including "A La Rueda," "Michael Finnegan," "Ti Amo," and "Procession of Honor." An eighth-grade trumpet player will perform one of the solos. The band is preparing for their upcoming concert with the addition of a new member, Payton McGehee.
The school's musical production this year is "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," scheduled for March 14th and 15th. Students will have the opportunity to watch the dress rehearsal during school hours on March 14th. The cast and crew are diligently working on props to enhance the show's quality.
Dr. Wollberg has been announced as the new superintendent for all 2026 classes, succeeding Dr. Newby, who is retiring. The search for a new principal is underway, with more information expected soon.
Valentine's Day was celebrated at Grass Lake School with candy grams organized by the PTO and students. Candy bracelets were distributed as part of this year's festivities.
As trimester two concludes, grades are being finalized, and an All School Award event featuring movies like "Ratatouille" and "Shrek" will take place in different classrooms.
With the NFL season over, MLB Spring Training has commenced for local teams Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. The Cubs remain undefeated in Spring Training, while the White Sox aim to improve after a challenging season. The Cubs' first game of the season is against the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 18 in Tokyo as part of this year's Global Series. The White Sox will face the Los Angeles Angels on March 27.
