Since 2013, the United Nations has recognized March 20 as an International Day of Happiness – a commemoration of connection and well-being. At Warren-Newport Public Library (WNPL), there is a focus on sharing library joy far and wide, as part of the celebration anytime. The library believes that libraries are cornerstones of happiness in any community.
This International Day of Happiness, WNPL invites the community to appreciate the resources, programs, and services that make any library a source of joy for many. The library expresses gratitude for being an essential part of what makes communities thrive.
Several suggestions are offered to experience library joy and happiness:
- Check out a humorous book and join The Grow Reading Challenge to win a prize.
- Download or stream a funny movie through hoopla or Kanopy.
- Attend a fun library program this spring.
- Meet a friend at the library or join the Friends of WNPL together.
- Engage with the Library’s social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Studies indicate that generosity increases happiness. Residents are encouraged to share their library stories below or consider donating to enhance the Library’s capacity to improve its services.
